Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

TL;DR

  • KollegieSwap connects students — we don't handle rent or contracts.
  • You must be a real student with a university email.
  • Be honest in your listings and profile.
  • We can remove accounts that violate these rules.

1. What KollegieSwap is

KollegieSwap is a platform that connects university students who want to sublet their dorm room with students looking for temporary housing in Copenhagen. We facilitate the connection — we are not a party to any subletting agreement, and we do not handle payments, contracts, or legal arrangements between users.

2. Eligibility

To use KollegieSwap, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be a currently enrolled university student.
  • Sign up with a valid university email address.
  • Provide truthful and accurate information in your profile and listings.

3. Your responsibilities

  • Accurate information: your profile, listings, and messages must be truthful. Do not misrepresent your room, rent, or availability.
  • Legal compliance: subletting in Denmark is governed by the Danish Rent Act. You are responsible for obtaining any required approvals from your kollegium administration. KollegieSwap does not verify compliance with subletting regulations.
  • Respectful conduct: treat other users with respect. Harassment, spam, or abusive behavior will result in account removal.
  • One account per person: do not create multiple accounts.

4. What we don't do

KollegieSwap does not:

  • Handle or process rent payments.
  • Verify the physical existence or condition of listed rooms.
  • Guarantee that a subletting arrangement will be successful.
  • Provide legal advice about subletting contracts.
  • Act as a mediator in disputes between users.

We strongly recommend viewing any room in person and signing a proper subletting contract before making payments. See our guide to subletting in Denmark.

5. Content and listings

You retain ownership of any content you post (photos, descriptions, messages). By posting on KollegieSwap, you grant us a non-exclusive license to display your content on the platform for the purpose of providing the service. When you delete your account or a listing, the associated content is permanently removed.

6. Account suspension and termination

We may suspend or permanently remove accounts that violate these terms, including but not limited to: posting fraudulent listings, creating fake profiles, harassing other users, or attempting to circumvent the verification system. You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings.

7. Limitation of liability

KollegieSwap is provided “as is.” We do our best to keep the platform running and secure, but we are not liable for any losses, damages, or disputes arising from subletting arrangements made through the platform. Always exercise your own judgment and take appropriate precautions.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via email or a notice on the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by Danish law. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Copenhagen, Denmark.
