Amager / Ørestad · CIU (Centralindstillingsudvalget — Central Nomination Committee)
Bikuben Kollegiet stands at Amagerfælledvej 50A, directly beside the University of Copenhagen South Campus on Amager, with the IT-University visible from the upper floors. Designed by AART Architects and opened in 2006, the building received a Copenhagen Municipality building prize for enriching the urban environment. Owned by Bikubenfonden, the private foundation also reserves 10% of places for young people in socially vulnerable situations — an unusual social inclusion model rare in Danish student housing. The 107 studios each have a private kitchenette and bathroom, meaning there are no shared kitchens; instead, a large party hall with kitchen and lounge, a rooftop terrace with views over Copenhagen's skyline, a gym, and a basement bike workshop serve the community. The metro stations DR-Byen and Amagerbro are five minutes on foot. Applications go through CIU at s.dk; subletting is permitted after six months' residency.
