Amager (Amagerbro) · Kollegiernes Kontor i København (KKIK)
Built in 1972 on Amager's wide residential streets, Frankrigsgade Kollegiet is a 10-floor tower of 126 identical rooms, each with a private bathroom, a hallway wardrobe and a small balcony. The building sits almost perfectly equidistant between two metro stations — Amagerbro and Lergravsparken — making the rest of Copenhagen feel close. From the fifth floor and above, residents look across the flat Amager roofscape to Øresund and, on clear days, the coast of Sweden.
The swimming pool (Amagerbad) is 10 metres from the building; Amager Centeret and a dense strip of restaurants, bars and independent shops along Amagerbrogade are all within a five-minute walk. The building was renovated in 2005 and has since been updated with a phone-based door entry system. All 126 rooms are east- or west-facing, the only variation between units. Rent is all-inclusive at about 3,582 kr/month, and the waiting time is approximately two years through KKIK.
South of the city center, home to Copenhagen University's main campus (KUA) and the IT University (ITU). Close to the metro, the beach at Amager Strandpark, and the airport.
