Frederiksberg · Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS)
From 1919 to 1959, the Fisker & Nielsen company manufactured Nimbus motorcycles on this Frederiksberg site — a distinctly Danish vehicle famous for its in-line four-cylinder engine and the fact that virtually nothing changed in its design across four decades of production. The factory closed, the land was redeveloped, and in 2018 four new stairwells of student housing opened here under the Nimbus name. The buildings themselves carry none of the industrial past in their architecture, but the heritage is embedded in the address.
The kollegium houses 238 students in 41 apartments, each flat shared by 5–8 people. The apartment's common living room is the acknowledged social centre — most floors organise weekly communal dinners, and the on-site café in the building complex gives the whole place a campus-like feel that is unusual for a Copenhagen kollegium. Some rooms have private balconies; all apartments have a furnished common room and fully equipped kitchen.
Frederiksberg is a municipality-within-a-municipality, with its own distinct pace — quieter and greener than the inner city, with Frederiksberg Have (the largest green park in the Copenhagen metropolitan area) a short walk away. Two Metro stations, Fasanvej and Frederiksberg, put you on the M1/M2/M3 Cityringen within a few minutes, connecting directly to Nørreport, the city center, and Copenhagen Airport.
A green borough within Copenhagen, home to Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and Frederiksberg Gardens. Known for its leafy streets, cafes, and the Zoo.
