Amager · Kollegiernes Kontor i København (KKIK)
Øresundskollegiet at Dalslandsgade 8 on Amager is Scandinavia's largest student dormitory: 1,024 rooms spread across multiple connected blocks just a short walk from the Amagerbro and DR-Byen metro stations. The complex was built in the early 1970s and its original 160-metre concrete roof terrace was famously transformed in 2021–22 into a green "Social Spine" — a rooftop park with greenhouse, outdoor kitchen, study corners, and 350 trees and shrubs, designed by arki_lab and SLA Architects for just 373,000 euros. The dorm's size means it functions like a small village: an elected resident council of eight manages the common spaces, sports areas, music studios, bar, cinema darkroom, ceramics workshop, and woodworking room. A major window replacement project by Mole Arkitekter recently updated all 1,600 windows and doors. The KKIK waiting list runs 1–3 years depending on unit type. Applications go through kollegierneskontor.dk; subletting requires administration approval and 6 months' prior residency.
