Paul Bergsøe Kollegiet

Paul Bergsøe Kollegiet stands on land that once belonged to the industrialist and inventor Paul Bergsøe (1873–1963), who built a career recycling non-ferrous metals and spent his later years at his Kofoedsminde estate in Nærum. After his death the grounds were chosen as the site for a new PKS residence, which opened in 1966–67 with 352 single and 32 double rooms. The location — 16 kilometres north of Copenhagen in the municipality of Rudersdal, not in Lyngby — shapes daily life: residents look out over their own park, can walk directly into Dyrehaven, and have access to an on-site kiosk, a kayak club and a beer-brewing club. Around 68 percent of residents study at DTU, making the campus connection strong despite the physical distance. PKS took over management in 2001. Sublets follow PKS rules: a six-month residency minimum before subletting, a six-month maximum sublet term, a subtenant under 30 who is SU-eligible, and advance written approval from PKS.
