Studentergården at Tagensvej 15 is one of the oldest continuously-operating student residences in Copenhagen. King Christian X laid the cornerstone on 2 February 1922 and the building — designed by architect Martin Borch as a three-winged complex with a gatehouse — was inaugurated in October 1923. The festsal is extraordinary: artist William Scharff decorated all four walls with a monumental frieze between 1943 and 1953, and the building holds additional works by Aksel Jørgensen and Kai Nielsen. Its 11 corridors carry names that are half joke, half tradition — Bersærkergangen, Psykopatgangen, Kannibalgangen among them. In 1944 the left wing was bombed by the Nazi-collaborating Schalburg Corps; a plaque in the courtyard commemorates those who fell. In 2023, the kollegium celebrated its centenary; a 30 million DKK grant from A.P. Møller Fonden will fund restoration of common rooms in 2026–27. Application is by motivated letter, with deadlines on 1 March and 1 October.
Source: studentergaarden.dk mentions subletting briefly ("It is further possible to sublet a room for a shorter period of time. You can read more about this under Admission.") — no separate fremleje page was found publicly accessible as of research date.
One of Copenhagen's most vibrant neighborhoods. Multicultural, with great nightlife, Assistens Cemetery, and Superkilen park. Popular with students from KU and CBS.
